Read and convert BAI2 files
BAI2 files are what US treasury and cash-management portals export for ERP systems: comma-separated records with numeric type codes and amounts in cents. Ledgermere shows them as a table per account and converts them.
How BAI2 is read
01file header,02group header (as-of date and currency),03account identifier with summary amounts (opening ledger 010, closing ledger 015),16transaction detail,88continuation,49/98/99trailers.- Type codes 100–399 are credits and 400–699 debits; common codes get a readable description (for example 195 incoming money transfer, 475 check paid).
- Funds-type fields (immediate, one-day, S and V distributions) are skipped correctly, so the bank and customer references and text are found.
Steps
- Open the .bai / .bai2 / .txt file in Ledgermere; each account becomes its own statement.
- Export to CSV or Excel, or to QBO / OFX – one file per account.
Questions and answers
Which date is used?
BAI2 detail records have no own date; the group’s as-of date is used for every transaction, as most banks intend.
Are custom 9xx type codes supported?
They are read; because their meaning is bank-specific, Ledgermere marks them so you can check the sign.
