Convert QFX or OFX to QBO
QFX, QBO and OFX are all the same OFX format with small differences: a QBO file must contain a QuickBooks bank ID (INTU.BID), and QuickBooks looks for its own file extension. Ledgermere rewrites the file properly instead of just renaming it.
Steps
- Open the .qfx or .ofx file in Ledgermere – the account number, currency, transactions and the bank’s own transaction IDs are read.
- Choose QBO. Keep INTU.BID at its default or enter your bank’s QuickBooks ID.
- Download and import in QuickBooks.
Why not just rename the file?
Renaming .qfx to .qbo sometimes works, but QuickBooks rejects files whose INTU.BID it doesn’t know, and OFX files from many banks have no INTU.BID at all. Ledgermere writes a clean OFX 1.02 file with the ID you choose.
From QIF
QIF has no account number or transaction IDs. Ledgermere creates stable IDs from each transaction’s contents; enter the account number before exporting so QuickBooks can match the account next time.
Questions and answers
Does it work the other way (QBO to QFX)?
Yes. Any format can be converted to any other, for example QBO to QFX for Quicken or OFX to CSV.
Are investment accounts supported?
No – only bank and credit-card statements (OFX bank and credit-card messages).
