Convert MT940 to Excel, CSV or OFX
MT940 is the SWIFT customer statement format many banks offer for business accounts. It is plain text, but packed with codes like :61:2401310131D120,50NTRFNONREF. Ledgermere turns it into a readable table and into the format your software needs.
What is read
:25:account,:60F:/:62F:opening and closing balance (checked against the transactions).:61:value date, booking date, debit/credit mark including reversals (RC/RD), amount, transaction code and references.:86:details: German structured fields (?20–?29 purpose, ?32/?33 name, SVWZ+), Dutch structured fields (/NAME/, /REMI/, /TRTP/) or free text.- Files with several statements or several accounts, with or without SWIFT block headers.
Steps
- Open the .sta / .940 / .txt file in Ledgermere.
- Check the transactions and the balance check next to the file name.
- Choose Excel or CSV for analysis, or QBO / OFX / QIF for accounting software.
Questions and answers
Is MT942 supported?
Interim MT942 reports use the same transaction lines and are read too; they usually have no closing balance.
My bank is switching to camt.053
Ledgermere also reads camt.053, so you can convert both while the bank changes over.
